My Collage Poems

Starting off strong, we have "Wasting the Sunshine".

Wasting the Sunshine

Remember when...
Dad said "You are Special"
when staring in the face of his gifted daughter
he said, she is "flawless" and could never fail
as a child he won't tell you that he LIES!

Year after Year I'm wasting the sunshine
That's because when the lights come up
I never amount to anything.

I'm going to die before I finally grow up

I'd like to...be loveable, rather than Special

Oh, and here's "The Sound of Rain Falling."

The Sound of Rain Falling

I'll never figure it out...
I am not supposed to be here...
I am not worthy...

No one is watching you.
No one cares.
What a privilege, the sound of rain falling.
"Please come back again someday"

Alright, alright let's get all lovey-dovey with it now. This poem has a very special place in my heart. It is about the night I met my wife (eek!!). Okay, here is "Say a Prayer".

Say a Prayer

On the Saturday night in question,
They say she smiled like she meant it.
Is there a spark?
Another heartbreak?
A three A.M. drive home
It doesn't take long till I'm kissing her

I had to.
Sometimes you have to.

If you want proof that you yourself hold the key,
Say a prayer.
Let me prove it.
